Eddie Izzard

Taking to the stage in 1987, Izzard made his first appearance at The Comedy Store in London, where he began to hone his stand-up routine. By the early 90s, Izzards growing popularity allowed him to take on larger venues around London; in February of 1993, he landed his first stand-up gig at The Ambassadors Theatre in the London's West End. A huge success the show was extended past its original four-week run and saw Izzard winning the British Comedy Award for Top Stand-Up Comedian. A witty, intelligent and unique performer he is now one of the top comedians in the business, as well as a successful film and stage actor. Known as much for his transvestitism as he is for his excoriating social observations, Izzard is one of the most gleefully unpredictable performers to have sabotaged the stage and screen during the late 20th century. Izzard will take to the road this year with his ?Stripped? tour ? 2009 his first UK standup tour in six years. The tour includes a number of large-capacity arenas and will finish with dates at the O2 and the Wembley Arena in December. Further dates have already been added to his AutumnTour, so get in quick and but your tickets now?..
